 BIOGRAPHY

Kyle M. Stone is from Detroit Michigan, and has been working as an artist for over nine years, bridging the gap between the worlds of fine art and illustration.  He graduated from The Center for Creative Studies in 1993 where he studied traditional illustration and design.  In 1997, he began to work directly from his imagination, finding a level of expression and freedom that still informs his work today.
“I find that having a strong background in representational art allows me the freedom to explore more of the creative process.
To just have a small portion of a painting grounded in reality, allows me to take it much further in a creative direction.
“OK, I painted a hand that looks like a hand …time to play. “I’ve found the beauty of contrast.”
Stone is also a co-founder of COLAB, a local organization of artists who work together producing art to earn money for charitable causes.
Among his achievements, he received a Certificate of Merit from the Society of Illustrators and most recently awarded Best of Show 2001
from the Scarab Club in Detroit, MI.
When away from the studio, Kyle enjoys golfing, being outdoors and restoring his 1920 colonial home.  A little over a year ago he discovered his thumbs turning green, and as a result enjoys working in the yard landscaping and gardening.
He is a lover of music and has a variety of musical instruments.  Some he can even play.
He lives and works in Michigan with his wife Natalie and his children Sophie, Ava and Mason.
